Over the past 45 years Hot Wheels have become synonymous with quality die cast cars for boys. Introduced in 1968 by Mattel, the brand has gone from strength to strength, providing trending toys to all those that can appreciate the beauty of the automobile!

Since the first Hot Wheels was manufactured, Mattel started to give the owners of Matchbox a lot to think of. Mattel seemed to just be able to stay one step ahead of the game. Their innovative designs and the fact that they also created non-standard models in contrast to Matchbox who primarily made models of "real" cars, managed to continuously capture the imagination of boys all ages. In the end Mattel did purchase Tyco toys who owned Matchbox in 1997 and as such ended up with the full monopoly of the die cast car model industry.
